Lara was drawn to her practice 14 years ago and it has been a daily part of her life ever since. Taking it with her on her travels across the many years and different lands while living and working abroad, her Asana practice remains a constant grounding factor in her life. It was a natural progression for her to move into teaching, completing her first 200h Vinyasa in 2011 with her return to Cape Town.
She has since studied with teachers far and wide, completing various trainings and intensives. Most significantly her 2013 Forrest Teacher Training in Chicago. Her Forrest influence can be seen threaded through her Vinyasa classes or enjoyed in its purist form, with her Forrest Yoga Intensives. Forrest Yoga encourages, strength, character, truth and a deeper connection to Spirit, both on and off the mat.
Lara has trained with Patrick Creelman (Pure Yoga, Hong Kong), Shimon Ben Avi (Israel), Ana Forrest (USA), Simon Borg-Olivier (Australia), Yvonne de Kock (Cape Town) and continues to practice and study with an array of wonderful Cape Town based teachers. Lara’s own Asana practice and style of teaching are greatly influenced by teachers: Thuy Dockendorf, Janet Stone, Meghan Currie, Liz Arch & Shiva Rae.
In Lara's classes you will find a devotion to teaching a focused intelligent sequence and medicine for the soul with her hands-on adjustments, proper alignment and whimsical music. She continuously encourages her students to know their own limitations and work towards deepening their Asana practice in a safe way, developing both the physical and energetic body.
Lara strives to ensure that each yoga session is a joyful, playful and soulful experience.
