The Set Sequence class is specifically designed to be Beginner-friendly, while presenting enough of a challenge to keep regular practitioners and more intermediate students fully engaged. This class begins with gentle movements to internally warm the body and mobilize the joints. These are followed with a series of standing postures and floor postures organized to address the principles of proper alignment, strength development, breathing and mindfulness. The repetitive “set” nature of the sequence is especially useful for beginners as they will always know what to expect, while more regular students will find that they are able to shift from thinking into a more ‘moving meditation’ state.
No matter the teacher, the sequence will be basically the same. Throughout the course of the year, after a few months have passed, we will make small changes to the sequence so that it will always feel ‘set’ but never ‘stagnant.’
